Graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique (1993), Xavier Ragot, CNRS Director and Professor at Sciences Po Paris s is currently President of the French Economic Observatory (Observatoire Français des Conjonctures Economiques, OFCE), an independent institute dedicated to economic research and forecasting. Xavier Ragot was born on 29 April 1973 in Bayonne. He graduated from Polytechnique (1993); he completed a thesis at EHESS (1996-1997) and undertook a post-doc at MIT (2001-2002).
He has also been senior economist at the Banque de France, chief economist at the Agency for
Industrial Innovation and economic adviser of Ministry of Economics. He is member of the Council Economic Analysis of the Prime Minister. His research focuses on monetary and financial macroeconomy issues, European issues and heterogeneous agents. He has published in French and international economic journal, his last book Civiliser le capitalisme published by Fayard in 2019. He received the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite.
