Together, we can advance technology for the common good.
The McCourt Institute was launched with founding partners Sciences Po in Paris and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. As part of Project Liberty, the McCourt Institute aims to ensure that digital governance is prioritized in the development of new technology and embedded in the next generation of the web.
A new digital era is upon us.
This time, we have a chance to get things right.
Despite the internet’s many benefits, today’s tech structure is eroding trust and fueling misinformation, polarization, and inequity. That’s partly because the applications and algorithms that shape our economies, democracies, and public discourse were developed with few legal restrictions or commonly held ethical standards.
This is a global problem – one that can’t be solved by regulatory tweaks. We need comprehensive, collaborative solutions to positively shape tomorrow’s tech infrastructure.
The McCourt Institute
Located in Paris and Washington, D.C., the McCourt Institute will bring an international perspective to the work of strengthening digital governance. We aim to draw on lessons of the past and present-day expertise to publish first-class, timely insights and develop solutions for a better digital future.
